Natalie & Sam’s Westin Poinsett Wedding

Talk about two people who are easy to celebrate! Natalie and Sam are some of the kindest hearted people and it was such a joy to get to know them through the wedding process!

First of all, I LOVE a Westin Poinsett Wedding (complete with a total throw down on the dance floor!!) had my heart from the beginning. (And, spoiler alert, it WAS all as spectacular as you imagine.) What wasn’t in the plan was rain. Rain is never in the plan.

But they took it so in stride. As much as we would like it to not be the case, not everything about your wedding day is controllable, and weather is one of those things. They did a beautiful job of letting that go and trusting their vendors and loved ones to just take care of them. I have shot in all kind of conditions and am always prepared for ANYTHING. (90 degrees and sunny? Yeah. Umbrellas are still coming with me!),All day rain day. I gotchu!

Some things from their day that I think I will already remember:

  • Natalie’s stunning dress. I love a classic dress with a little bit of modern individuality! Texture photographs so beautifully and Natalie’s rang all the bells!!
  • Their ceremony was a worship service and as we were all cozied up in the church, we could feel the (wonderful) weight of Natalie and Sam’s vows and the moment when he saw he coming his way down the aisle. And we could feel the Lord’s presence in it all.
  • Excuse me with the DANCE FLOOR SITUATION!! They had told me that the dancing was important so I knew the band would be great, but it was even better than I imagined! I mean just scroll and see, but the energy on the dance floor was infectious and even I wasn’t ready for the music to stop!

  • And instead of waiting until he reception to eat, they had decided to enjoy their meal before entering the reception area BOTH so that they could have some time just the two of them AND so they could spend more time with their guests. How did this help? After they entered the reception, they had already eaten and so they greeted each guest as they waited in line for food. And they had their neon sign in that same area so they got a photo op with anyone who wanted it! It was a simple yet effective way to ensure that they got to spend time with each and every person who had come to celebrate with them.
  • And then came the exit – with ROSE PETALS! It so whimsical and romantic, just like Natalie and Sam. The guests loved it too and made for some amazing exit photos!

Rain, smrain–who cares! The Roddenberrys rocked it and I was so honored to share it with them! Hugs to you two!!
