There are some wedding days that are beautiful because of the details, and then there are wedding days that are beautiful because of the people. Holly and Tim’s wedding was undoubtedly both.
As a Greenville, SC wedding photographer, I have the privilege of documenting so many incredible celebrations, but this one was especially meaningful. When Holly first reached out and told me her fiancé was Tim, I immediately recognized his name. I had spent nearly four years in a small group with Tim’s brother and sister-in-law, so it felt like there was already a small connection before we ever met. That made it even sweeter to witness the beginning of this new chapter for their family.
Holly and Tim’s relationship began while serving together in Grace Church Kids. I love that their story started not with a grand gesture, but in a place of faithfully serving others. That foundation says so much about who they are.
Throughout the entire wedding day, it was obvious that their relationship with Christ wasn’t simply part of their story—it was the very center of it. Every decision reflected intentionality, from the people they surrounded themselves with to the places they chose to celebrate.
Holly and Tim chose to be married at the church they call home—the very place where they first met while serving in children’s ministry. (Fun fact, I go to Grace Church too! Just the Pelham campus, not the downtown one!)
There was something incredibly special about watching them exchange vows in a place filled with so much history and meaning. Their ceremony didn’t just celebrate the beginning of a marriage; it celebrated the faith community and family that had helped shape their relationship from the very beginning.
The celebration continued with a reception at The Westin Poinsett, one of my favorite historic wedding venues in downtown Greenville.
The ballroom was full of joy, laughter, and people who genuinely love these two. Every toast, every conversation, and every dance reflected just how deeply Holly and Tim are cared for by their family and friends.
And of course, we couldn’t skip rooftop portraits.
The rooftop at The Westin Poinsett is one of my favorite places for wedding portraits in downtown Greenville, especially at sunset. That evening, the light couldn’t have been more perfect. As the sun dipped lower over the city, Holly and Tim were able to step away from the celebration for just a few quiet minutes together. Those are often the moments couples remember most—when the whirlwind slows down and they can simply take it all in.
Every detail of this wedding felt intentional.
Holly’s gown was absolutely stunning, but her shoes may have stolen the show if you caught a peep at them. The intricate beading and unexpected pop of color made them such a fun reflection of her personality. Be sure to scroll through the gallery because they’re too beautiful to miss.
Another favorite detail was Tim’s restored vintage truck. Instead of simply driving between the ceremony and reception, they used a vehicle he had lovingly restored himself. It was such a meaningful, personal touch that perfectly reflected the care they had poured into every part of the day. They left the wedding in it too!
When it was time to go everyone gathered outside The Westin Poinsett for a sparkler exit.
Just as Holly and Tim walked through a tunnel of cheering family and friends toward their truck, a light rain began to fall.As they were driving away, the skies opened up and within seconds, the rest of us were completely soaked! No worries, the gear was all okay, but the flash umbrella almost took a joy ride down main street. Thanks to my past groom, Mason, for saving the day on that!
Honestly, I can’t imagine a sweeter ending.
Or so I thought.
A little while later, I happened to still be nearby when they returned to the hotel. Tim carried Holly back inside out of the monsoon so she didn’t have to walk through the small river that had formed outside the hotel. I was able to capture one last quiet moment before the night officially came to an end. Sometimes those unexpected moments become the ones you’ll treasure forever.
From beginning to end, this wedding reflected exactly who Holly and Tim are: joyful, humble, intentional, and deeply rooted in their faith.
It was an incredible honor to document not only a beautiful wedding day, but the beginning of a marriage built on serving Christ and serving one another.
Holly and Tim, thank you for trusting me to preserve these memories for your family for generations to come. You two are truly some of the very best, and I couldn’t be happier for you.
