Luke and Steph’s Charlotte Engagement

Is it just the theme of this summer to be dodging rain?? Last weekend we drove up to Charlotte to photograph one of Hayes’s best childhood friends proposing! I was so excited that it worked out for me to be able to do it, and we drove up early to be sure we got into Charlotte in time. (A must with Friday city traffic. Which was surprisingly non-existent! I’ll take it!)

Well, we got to the park, and it was raining. But not terribly, and the forecast assured us that it was passing and would be gone by proposal time. About a thrid of the way walking to this spot the Sky. Opened. Up. Full on monsoon level rain! And yet the radar said we were right on the tail end of the storm. After sweating bullets, praying, and coming up with contingency plans, the sun broke through right in time for Luke and Steph to walk to their anniversary spot in the park rain free!

Long story short, they were *supposed* to have their anniversary date here a week or so before, but the ring hadn’t come in yet…But look at it! 100% worth the wait! But Steph thought it was an anniversary picnic in the park when she arrived. Here she is taking it all in, reading the letter board that said “Happy One Year Anniversary”.

Except then….he drops to the knee! When I took these, I was on the other side of the lake hidden behind some bushes. But quickly headed over to take some freshly engaged portraits!   Afterwards, we headed back to Luke’s to celebrate with some friends and family! And Steph’s mom had come in town as a surprise to celebrate too!  Congratulations, you two!! It was so fun celebrating with you both!! Happy wedding planning!!
