When you both met and got engaged on a hike, engagement portraits in the mountains are just a given, right?!? Halli and Jonathan seriously made my job *too* easy. They were so natural in front of the camera and with each other! See?!?
Now, if you are reading this and thinking to yourself, “But me and my person are not at all natural in front of the camera…that’s just not us.” Guess what, I think Halli and Jonathan would have likely said the same thing before we started. She is a 4th grade teacher and he is a horticulturalist–not jobs where you are in front of a camera…ever! They aren’t pro models (but they could be!!) –but they ARE 2 people who love each other and let me see that while we were hanging out and walking around the mountain. That’s all it takes! When I start an engagement session it is my mantra to say: “50% of *your job is already complete by showing up! And the other 50% is just to kind of like each other. The rest of everything is my job, so you can relax and just enjoy each other and laugh about it being weird to take photos until it starts feeling less weird!” And it will for sure feel much more natural by the end!
Halli and Jonathan, I’d walk around a mountain with you any day!! Can’t wait to talk to you both again soon! 🙂
