After being together for 8 years….they are finally Mr. and Mrs.!
James and Lauren are high school sweethearts and have an ease with each other that is to be admired. Now, that didn’t stop James from being anxious (in the *best* and sweetest way) to see Lauren for the first time on their wedding day. But when he did, to see those nerves melt away and watch him admire his almost wife…it was perfect! These two bring with them a sense of peace and welcome that blessed me from the moment I started emailing them, all the way through when they left their wedding. And if I felt that so strongly, imagine what a beautiful impact they will have in the world as the Ducketts!
There were a ton, but some of my favorite parts of their day were:
– Lauren’s dad’s toast. He of course had glowing words for Lauren and James, but he started his speech by bragging on HIS wife and what an excellent wife and mom she is. If that is not setting an amazing example, I don’t know what is!
– Personal vows: During their first look, Lauren and James shared personal vows privately. It was a beautiful way to have something personal to them and also have the traditional vows in the ceremony.
– Flexibility in schedule: We called an audible and instead of doing their big set of portraits before the wedding, we did a small set then, and the larger set around golden hour. Why you as? Don’t I usually do the opposite? Yes, BUT because the weather was great and no rain was expected, and it was HOT during the scheduled portrait time, we thought it would be better light and more comfortable for them to do most of those portraits after they ate dinner. The result? 2 stunning and very different looking sets of portraits and less sweat overall! HA!
– Tacos. Need I say more? Cribbs Catering does it again!
